SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Marie Couvent Scholarship is inspired by the enduring vision of Marie Couvent, who dedicated her life to supporting underserved youth through education and opportunity. This grant seeks to honor her legacy by empowering young individuals facing systemic barriers to achieve their goals and contribute to their communities.
Purpose - To provide financial assistance and resources to underserved youth, enabling them to access education, mentorship, and personal development opportunities while preserving the legacy of Marie Couvent.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be between the ages of 16 and 21.
Demonstrate financial need or reside in economically disadvantaged areas.
Be enrolled in an educational institution or vocational program.
Preference will be given to individuals overcoming systemic barriers, such as housing instability or limited access to educational resources.
Geographically located in the metro New Orleans area.
Grant Benefits - Recipients of the Marie Couvent Scholarship will receive:
Financial support ranging from $500 to $2,000 to assist with educational expenses.
Access to mentorship and personal development programs.
To apply, eligible applicants must:
Complete the online application form.
Submit proof of enrollment in an educational or vocational program.
Write a 500-word essay on how this grant will help them overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
Provide one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader.
Selection Process - The Marie Couvent Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select recipients based on demonstrated need, alignment with the grant’s purpose, and potential for personal growth and community impact.
Key Dates
Application Period: January 1 – August 1.
Award Notification: Recipients will be notified by September 1.
Grant Ceremony: Awards will be presented at the annual Marie Couvent Scholarship Celebration in October in New Orleans, Louisiana.
