Empowering Underserved Businesses to Innovate, Scale, and Lead
The Couvent Collective is a Public Benefit Corporation and social enterprise advancing financial literacy, business readiness, and economic mobility. Inspired by the legacy of Marie Couvent, we focus on closing opportunity gaps through culturally responsive financial education and practical support.
Our work serves individuals from early learning through professional careers, with a strong emphasis on women, veterans, re-entry individuals, and underserved entrepreneurs. Through standards-aligned financial literacy programs, business education, and access to tools and resources, we help people build financial confidence, start and grow businesses, and create long-term economic stability.
education and resources to help your small business
Financial literacy is often taught by age, but real financial decisions are shaped by economic exposure - the moments in life when money, opportunity, and risk overlap.
Financial Power for Lifeâ„¢ is a proprietary financial literacy framework and multi-tier delivery system designed to build financial capability across life stages.
That’s why Financial Power for Life™ is organized around a lifecycle framework that scales from students learning their first money skills to professionals managing complex wealth decisions.

the promise of protection
The Industrial Canal has run through the heart of New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward for over a century. The Army Corps of Engineers is currently proposing a $4.7 billion lock replacement project that would bring 14 years of construction to the neighborhood beginning in 2033.
The project has a benefit-cost ratio of 1.03. 97% of the vessels that transit the lock do not stop in New Orleans. Community organizations have been raising questions about the project for 30 years.
The Promise of Protection is a documentary currently in production examining the history of the Industrial Canal, its impact on the Lower Ninth Ward across sixty years, and the questions surrounding the federal government's current proposal.
